SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during April 2017 (727,600 movements) increased 0.8% compared with March 2017 (722,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% in February 2017 and March 2017. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.7% higher than in April 2016.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2017, short-term visitor arrivals (746,700 movements) increased 4.7% compared with March 2017 (712,900 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.2% in February 2017 followed by a monthly decrease of 0.4% in March 2017.
- Original estimates: There were 701,300 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in April 2017.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during April 2017 (833,000 movements) increased 0.1% compared with March 2017 (832,500 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.1% in February and March 2017. The current trend estimate for departures is 1.9% higher than in April 2016.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2017, short-term resident departures (849,300 movements) increased 5.2% compared with March 2017 (807,100 movements). This followed monthly decreases of 2.1% in February 2017 and 3.0% in March 2017.
- Original estimates: There were 861,700 short-term resident departures from Australia in April 2017.
